I know these remixes have been all over the interwebs, but I couldn't pass up an opportunity to pass on two completely awesome re-takes of an already bumpin' song.
We here at TSRE aren't shy about proclaiming our love for the Esau Mwamwaya/Radioclit collaboration that is The Very Best. Their debut LP, set to drop on Green Owl this fall, is outrageously good. And "Warm Heart of Africa" is one of the best cuts on the record.
Recently, they released two amazing remixes from some big names: Architecture in Helsinki and Metronomy. The two takes are completely different from each other - and from the original - and really give the remixing artists' signature feel to The Very Best's track.
Architecture In Helsinki's remix is a horn heavy take on the tune that flirts with instrumentalism for a couple minutes before finally dropping a sample of TVB's vocals toward the end. This track has a wonderful summer jazz feel to it. Also, love the handclaps, which have been sadly absent from these pages as of late. So thanks for that Architecture.
Metronomy takes a completely different approach, from AiH's organic take. Following their usual steez inclinations, Metronomy roboticize (it's a word now) the vocals to make it a slower electro jam. As this version goes on it builds nicely, and definitely gets me bumping full on by the end. I dig it.
And, for your listening/comparing pleasure, the original:

Ummm...that Metronomy "remix" is fine on it's own...but as a remix, it's crap. That's all I got.
