A while ago I received a copy of Jonquil's new EP One Hundred Suns in the mail and unfortunately it only recently found its way into my stereo (sorry). I was missing out. One Hundred Suns is a perfect succinct, sunny EP for a bright Fall day. It Never Rains is literally the perfect pop gem. It shimmers, never stands still, and is over before you want it to be. I cannot really describe it, but all the tracks are wide-eyed and hopeful - really good stuff. It is funny, the song Lions off Jonquil's previous album Lions is one of my favorite melancholic song, with its accordion, Lions is a song of ending or denouement. Here on One Hundred Suns, Jonquil have crafted an album hopeful for the future. Its important to be able to emotionally connect to an album, even better when it can be an unfettered joy - something we need more of these days.
