Ramblings on HipHop

I don't profess to know anything about rap/hiphop/R&B or whatever. But here are a few artists that I've stumbled upon recently that I think deserve a listen. Elzhi and Noah23 create some well produced hip hop in the mold of Black Milk, while Janelle Monae is as proclaimed by Rolling Stone "a sci-fi Beyonce" and I tend to agree. With dystopian lyrics reminiscent of El-P and fast paced vocals and horns, Janelle Monae is a chanteuse for the scary future. Tobacco enlists some great hip hop help that works like buttah with his crisp and heavy, but sort of drone-y production. Dirt featuring personal favorite Aesop Rock is, simply put, my jam right now. What song that begins with the line "Honey Bunches of Oats is the greatest cereal in the world" wouldn't be awesome? Well, thats about all I have to say. Take a listen.
