A Song is Worth 365 Days

On the theme of retrospectives (Check back tomorrow for TSRE's Official "The Last List Of Top Albums Of 2008 Published Online"), here's a pretty interesting track from DJ Earworm, his second annual United States Of Pop Mashup.

DJ Earworm is a mashup artist/DJ type who actually wrote the book - well, A book, at least - about mashup construction. For the second straight year he's taken the top 25 Tracks from Billboard's 2008 list and mashed them together into one big, potatoey mess.
The mixes are surprisingly listenable, and although some of the songs are included very minimally in the form of shout outs or a few words here and there, just the idea of mashing up pre-determined tracks that aren't picked by the DJ is fairly impressive. More like a puzzle to try to see how they all fit together than an inspired pairing of a few tracks.

Definitely an interesting way to recap the hits of the year. I'm posting both his 2007 and 2008 mashilations, and I encourage you to check him out, and peep a tracklist, at djearworm.com.
