Oh man, seems like good covers are dropping left and right these days, through various projects, compilations, cover albums, and websites. Here's a quick sampling of some of the best of the best:
Warpaint Takes on Bowie
Warpaint, one of my favorite live bands of the past year, is getting set to release their debut album, The Fool, in late October. In the meantime, they're keeping us plied with good tunes, via a single release and this here cover. They cover David Bowie's "Ashes To Ashes," from Scary Monsters (and Super Creeps). It's beautifully done and psychedelically minded, like almost everything Warpaint does.

Morning Benders Cover Bob Dylan
Another of my favorite acts of 2010 have gotten in on the cover game, taking on Bob Dylan's "Outlaw Blues." They released the song (for the price of your email address) last week, and it has just continued to grow on me since then. Totally hauntingly beautiful.

First Aid Kit Tackles Fever Ray
I'll admit it, I haven't listened to First Aid Kit as much as I should. I hear their name mentioned all the time in bands-to-watch discussions, and I have yet to really sit down with their tunes. But this track caught my eye, since I'm obsessed with Fever Ray's self-titled debut album (which made our best of 2009 list last year). It's a great cover, and will get me to finally spin First Aid Kit's album pronto.
