I was sitting in my apartment with my roommate the other day, talking about one of my favorite topics in recent memory: How much Drake's new album sucks. I wrote a diatribe...ahem, a review, over on Pretty Much Amazing, so I won't go into too much detail here. Just let it be known that I think it's boooooooooring.
Then I played Eminem's take on the very same beat. Which is simply, in a word, ferocious.
Then we shut our computers and wrote hand-written letters to Drake, imploring him to go back to acting.

Word. Eminem is beast but I didn't listen to Thank Me Later. But can you blame me Drakes in Young Money. The albums bound to suck.
Yeah Eminem's album is soooooo great! (note sarcasm).
Drake's album is good overall: there's a reason Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, Vibe et al. all gave it a very good review.
Drake just needs some time. Eminem has been at this game for a lot longer than he has. I remember watching Eminem when he was just a young kid on the Sway and Tech show and he was just starting to become the rapper he is now. He seemed much happier then but that's another story altogether...
On Eminem's last album, he spends more time telling us how ferocious is going to be than he does actually being ferocious. I will admit, he kills some verse, but there isn't one song that he kills front to back.
Drake isn't worth writing about. Thank you for realizing that. Anyone who hypes themself up as much as he did is bound to flop (... labron?)
To the last point, I will be judging eminem on his NEXT album, to see if he is serious about the promises he makes us on this album that he is going to be sick again. If he comes back with a rocker, then I give him cudos, and this most recent album was worth it. If not, then this last album was a farse, and his career should end there.
Maybe Anonymous is right, and drake needs more time. Let's judge him on his next album also.
Actually, Drake is a pretty terrible actor, so in your next letter, you might suggest rototilling.
On a related note, I watched "8 Mile" for the first time last night, and kind of love Eminem now, too.
